William H. Considine


Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron


William H. Considine, President of Akron Children's Hospital for 29 years, is actively involved in numerous health care, educational and cultural organizations at the local, state and national levels.

Considine is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.  He is also a member of the Board and a past chairman of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions and serves as a member of its Council on Child Advocacy and its Resource Development Advisory Group.  He also serves on the American Hospital Association=s Maternal Child Health Governing Council, and is a member and past chairman of the Child Health Corporation of America.  He also is a Past-Chairman of the Children's Miracle Network Board, and Chairman-Elect of the Ohio Children=s Hospital Association.  He serves on the Board of Directors for MedAssets, and is the current Chairman of Akron Tomorrow.

Considine serves on the boards of several Akron area community organizations, including:

He is the past chairman and member of the Board of Summit Education Initiative and is co-chair of the Summit County Character Counts Initiative and This City Reads Initiative.  He also served as chairman of Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic's task force on juvenile violence.

Considine has been honored by organizations such as the American Lung Association; the Great Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America; the March of Dimes; the Sales and Marketing Executives Association of Akron; the Mental Health Association of Summit County; Akron Public Schools; The University of Akron (where he received his undergraduate degree in 1969); and his high school alma mater, Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron.  He holds a master's degree in health science administration from Ohio State University and a Doctorate in Humane Letters from the University of Akron.

Considine lives in Akron with his wife Rebecca. They have three children.
